Watch her
Woman
Stumbling along
See the child
Held tight in her arms
Hark that desperate look in her eyes
That haggard face
Clothes cloaked in grime
Hatless
Shoeless
Begging for food
Homeless
Friendless
Banished for good
Disowned by the family
Surviving on dog-scraps
In an alien land
At night when the moonshine
Blankets the trees
She lies on the roadside
Uncovered
Trying not to freeze
Close to her breast then
She holds her bastard child
The baby unknowing
Hungry and crying.

That's a wonderful picture Maya. Is it meant to go with the poem? Are the pictures on your site your own in fact?

Hey Clive!
Thank you so much for your comments! You obviously write too!
I'm afraid the pictures are not my own though. Pilfered of the internet- so far!
